Rally and information gathering for the UVic Rabbits

Hi all:

A group of us are getting together on Saturday May 15th and will meet at City Hall at 1:00 p.m. to gather, rally, pass out information and march our way to the legislative building. Although we will focus on the imminent mass kill that is coming up shortly, we will also point out the infamous "poison boxes" that have been proven to be killing many babies bunnies in the last few weeks.

Come and be a voice for all the rabbits. Let Victoria know about the deceptions and the atrocities of the university. All are welcome.

If you need any further information email Kathleen at savetheuvicbunnies@yahoo.ca

  1. Why the specific focus on rabbits? Surely it is only because they're cute and furry. Why not campaign to protect the thousands of rats poisoned, trapped and killed each year? If you take animal welfare seriously you'd drop this nonsense and focus on a more important cause.

  2. Good question anonymous - we don't agree that killing any animal by poison is ok and that is an issue into itself. The issue here is that the rabbits are a part of UVIC and gave joy and happiness to a lot of people including community, staff and students for many years. They are harmless, tame and friendly and in fact are "abandoned pets." The real question is why should certain members of the University administration make this critical decision to take the lives of innocent creatures because of superficial reasons. The last time I looked this university was a pubic institution and it receives its funding from students and the taxpayers. As taxpayers we have the right to protest especially when there are viable cost effective humane non-lethal options available. This is a serious cause on many levels and as animals such as these rabbits don't have a voice, someone has to speak for them and that's exactly what we are doing. I hope this answers your question. By the way which important causes are you involved in?
